The Megalith Movers Prehistoric Engineering
Blog 1st April 2017    Hi all,    We continued lifting this week. Each lift is getting easier as the force of gravity is deflected by the angle of the obelisk down towards the plinth. Although the lift is easier, keeping all the packing in place is much more difficult. We have solved some of the difficulties by fastening some of the packing to the obelisk itself and tying the rest of the original support structure together, which we use to support the obelisk while we attach the new packing to the obelisk.    On Monday, we placed our bags of salt under the foot of the obelisk in order to slow the final stage when the obelisk becomes self righting.    Regards, Gordon. << previous blog page next blog page >> To read & post comments click here return to top of this page
